![]() I love that there’s currently a piece of circuitry with Princess Celestia engraved upon it aboard the International Space Station because some random engineer was a crazed fan. I love the fact that there’s a Bronies for Good pin currently in Antarctica because a member of the scientific expedition was a fan. I love that, since 2011, it’s inspired so much charity work - that we have made a real impact in people’s lives. In fact, I’m not sure that that single EqD post made much of an impression at all - at least not big enough that people other than me would be talking about it twelve years later.īut I loved the idea of taking the joy we feel from the show - from Equestria - and letting it manifest in our actual lives. ![]() ![]() We, as a fandom, never really agreed upon any Summer Sun Celebration traditions either. None of the flags from that contest ever took off. I found the very idea absolutely entrancing - that we might find a way to celebrate pony holidays - to import Equestrian culture into our own. In mid June, Equestria Daily announced a flag-designing contest to celebrate the upcoming Summer Sun Celebration - the very first that our fandom spent together. The energy I found here was absolutely insane. I remember back in mid 2011, I’d recently finished watching Season One, and finally joined the fandom.
